Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
2026 PLAIN ENGLISH SPEAKING COMPETITION
Ruby participated in the North Coast Plain English Speaking competition along with eleven students from schools on the North Coast. The adjudicators made their decision based on the matter, manner and method the contestants employ in presenting their speeches. They expected contestants to be a confident and engaging speaker with the speeches themselves developed logically to a convincing conclusion in the time allowed. The adjudicators particularly looked for knowledge of the subject matter, skilful development of the theme and the effective use of plain English.
We are very proud that Ruby was selected to move to the next level of the competition and will participate at the Regional Finals.
Job Readiness Visit
Our job readiness program students visited the Hurford’s Hardwood Timber Mill. Students were introduced to the production line from log to finished building supplies.
Students were able to view the log yard, the factory, treatment plant and the saw workshop on the visit. It was another great trip and we are grateful for the time that our local businesses are sharing with our students as they prepare for the transition to the workforce.
SRC Spotlight 2026
We are happy to welcome our new Student Representative Council (SRC) members for this year. The SRC helps make our school a better place by sharing student ideas, organising fun events, and working with teachers and students.

Australia Day Awards 2025
It was with pride I attended the Kyogle Australia Day Awards on 26 January. Nate and Hannah gave outstanding speeches of what the day means to youth including a poem Nate wrote which had a very ‘Kyogle’ feel. Congratulations to Tennille Owen and Angus Joyce for their respective awards of Sportsperson and Student of the Year. In the words of the MC Mr O’Reilly at the end of the ceremony, “the future of Kyogle’s future is in great hands.

ANZAC DAY 2025
A letter to our Principal from the RSL
"Once again we wish to thank you, your staff and particularly the students for their participation and cooperation in helping the sub-Branch conduct the 2025 ANZAC Day commemoration.
Many thanks to the School Captains, the 'Magnificent Seven' who carried the flags, student who march and of course the wonderful teachers and staff.
The sub-Branch could not conduct the ANZAC commemoration with the school’s valuable assistance."
Push Up Challenge
This June, staff at Kyogle High will be participating in the Push Up Challenge.
The goal is to promote mental wellbeing through including more exercise in our life. The Challenge is raising money towards ‘Headspace’ Youth Mental Health Service. Staff will aim to complete 1600 push ups or an alternative exercise activity over three weeks.
